First used in the CMT (Cold Metal Transfer) and CMT Advanced processes, the Contec contact tube is a revolution in welding-torch technology. The name Contec is put together from ‘Con’ for contact and ‘Tec’ for technology. In a world fi rst, the use of revolutionary semi-shell technology has achieved high-precision contacting, with some very clear benefi ts: It delivers a marked increase in the availability of the whole welding system, as well as improving the weldprocess stability over the entire service life of this particular wearing part. This enhanced process stability opens up completely new possibilities with CMT Pin and CMT Print: The melt-through point of the welding wire is at a defined level. The result is exactly definable welding-wire lengths with spherical, conical or pointed ends. The applications for this lie in indirect joining of metals with non-metallic materials. It also makes it possible to apply ceramic bonding structures onto metallic surfaces, with complete process-reliability.
